Hello friends, exactly 40 years ago today—on May 30, 1986—“TENSONGS” was released. Back then, this album was something very special to us, and it remains so to this day.

After the Neue Deutsche Welle, which we were drawn into while still at school, we had already broken free a bit with “Goldene Zeiten”—but “Tensongs” was the beginning of total artistic freedom for us. As a band, we had found our dream team: producers Michael Cretu and Armand Volker helped us realize our musical visions, and with Mike Schmid, our art director, and photographer Dieter Eikelpoth, we also had visual partners who understood exactly how to bring our vision to life.

With this team backing us, suddenly everything was possible. Worldwide record deals, interview requests from the US, Japan, and the UK, Hollywood directors wanting our songs for their blockbusters, DJ-friendly edits, and white labels for the clubs. And it was no coincidence that, as part of this very team, we went on to make music history with Sandra later that year. Everything just clicked!

We are absolutely thrilled to present these ten songs to you today for the anniversary—plus a few bonus tracks and the single from back then, “Military Drums”—as a remaster from our original tapes. By the way, the master tapes have always remained in our possession, and we have now restored them with great attention to detail together with the Blank & Jones/Soundcolours team.

Over the next few weeks, we will also be opening our press archive and sharing a few treasures with you—interviews, record reviews, photos of test pressings and white labels, and press material.
